Yves Dusenge

I like to build and tinker with systems that move data, surface insight, and facilitate decision under uncertainty.

Chapter I

About

I am a software and data engineer with a foundation in economics. I build practical systems that move data, surface insight, and make decisions easier. My work lives at the intersection of analytics, product, and AI, and I care deeply about craft, clarity, and the human consequences of technology.

I have worked across remote teams in the US and Canada, and I co-founded a startup focused on fisheries in Southern Africa. The through-line is always the same: build with empathy, design for real constraints, and keep learning in public.

Snapshot and Education

Snapshot

  • Focus: data engineering, full-stack product, AI-assisted workflows
  • Domains: analytics pipelines, decision support, community-focused products
  • Interests: economics, history, probability, systems thinking, and incentives

Education

Guilford College (Dec 2016)

  • BS in Computer Science, BA in Economics
  • Honors Program, Student Marshal, Rising Mathematics Award, First Year Writing Award
Chapter I

Experience Highlights

  • Senior Software/AI Engineer, WorkMatch (Remote, USA) Jul 2025 - Present Architected an ETL pipeline using AWS DMS, Glue, and Aurora PostgreSQL to power BI dashboards. Improved team velocity by integrating AI-assisted coding workflows.
  • Full-Stack Engineer & Data Analyst, Independent Consultant (Ottawa, Canada) Nov 2022 - Present Built full-stack web applications with React and Node.js with automated testing and CI/CD. Integrated AI and analytics pipelines, driving a 40% increase in user engagement. Building a community-focused childcare platform with React and TypeScript.

Experience Highlights (continued)

  • Data/Analytics Engineer, Heyday by Hootsuite (Remote, Canada) Oct 2021 - Aug 2022 Built PII anonymization workflows and event processing pipelines (1M+ daily events). Improved analytics reporting and CI/CD tagging for faster deploys.
  • Software Engineer & Co-founder, Startup in Stealth (Ottawa, ON / Luanda, Angola) Jul 2020 - Aug 2021 Led full-stack development for a fisheries marketplace (React, Node.js, GraphQL).
Chapter I

Experience Highlights (continued)

  • Software/AI Engineer, MicroMetrics (Ottawa, ON) Feb 2020 - Jun 2020 Extended a Rails hospitality product and evaluated NLP models for product integration.
  • Software Developer, El Toro (Louisville, KY) Fall 2017 - Feb 2020 Built budgeting and forecasting tools (React, Python/Flask). Co-developed ML systems for ad impression pacing (TensorFlow, Docker, AWS).
